Haverhill Baptist Day School
New Policies due to Covid -19
Elementary Students (K – 3)

Arrival

  • Students must stay with the same teacher all day and may not mix with other classes.
  • For this reason elementary students cannot come to school before 8:00am each day.
  • School begins at 8:30am – do not be late!
  • There will be an Arrival Station on the porch way near the north gate where your child will be screened before entering school.
  • Parents will be asked:
  • Has your child exhibited any of the following symptoms in the past 24 hours? If so they must stay home.

Fever or Chills

Muscle or body aches

Cough

Congestion or runny nose

Fatigue

Nausea or vomiting

Headache

Loss of taste of smell

Sore Throat

Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Has your child had close contact with someone with Covid-19? If so they must stay home for 14 days after exposure. If they are diagnosed with Covid-19, you must report this to the school right away and follow the policy for “What if my child has Covid-19”.
  • The Station Monitor will then make a visual inspection of the student child for signs of illness which could include flushed cheeks, rapid breathing or difficulty breathing (without recent physical activity), fatigue.
  • If no symptoms exist the parent will then sign the student in and may walk with the child upstairs, however the parent may not enter the school building.

What will be done to limit risk of infection in the classrooms?

  • Students will stay in the same classroom and with the same teacher for the entire day.
  • Desks will be spaced at least 6 feet apart and will face in the same direction.
  • There will be a hall monitor who will clean, sanitize, and disinfect bathrooms, surfaces and objects that are frequently touched several times a day.
  • All students will wash their hands
    • At arrival to the facility
    • Before and after eating snacks and lunch.
    • After using the bathroom
    • After playing outdoors
  • The hall monitor will be sure that the students wash their hands properly.
  • Students must bring their own snacks and lunch, and they will eat at their desks.
  • Students must bring a clean cloth mask to wear when they go to the bathroom or if the teacher must come closer than 6ft.
  • Teachers will wear a mask all day long.

Dismissal

  • Parents will line up starting at the overhang and wait in the car until your student is brought to the car. The only pickup will be by car. Do not get out of your car. There can be no early pickup unless it is an emergency.
  • If you will need After School Care for your child, please come talk to us about this.

What if my child has Covid-19?

Notify the school right away. Depending on your healthcare provider’s advice and availability of testing, you might get tested to see if you still have COVID-19. If you will be tested, you can be around others when you have no fever, respiratory symptoms have improved, and you receive two negative test results in a row, at least 24 hours apart.
